If you haven't bought your Derby dress...

If you haven’t bought your dress and hat,
you better step to it! Luckily, Louisville has anything you could ever want and more. Our local boutiques, such as Peacock Boutique or Dress and Dwell, have great designers and dresses in everyone’s price range. Classic cuts in a bold color or bright pattern are sure to be winners this year.

Here are a few things to keep in mind for your Derby attire:

• Keep it simple. The most traditional thing about Derby is the gorgeous hats that top off your outfit! Let your hat take first place by choosing a dress that compliments your accessories and doesn't overshadow them.
• Long dresses are a hit! Although a long dress wouldn’t be my first choice, this year long, flowy dresses are in and can actually keep you very cool and protected from the sun.
• Go feminine. Floral, lace, strapless and open back dresses are all great choices when you want a feminine and classy look.
• When all else fails: Go black and white. If you aren’t keen on this year’s bold color palette, keep your outfit simple and classic in black and white.
