UofL’s Women ‘s Center and Women 4 Women student chapter are encouraging the Louisville community to get involved and help survivors of human trafficking on their path to recovery.
The Human Trafficking Awareness Conference will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Student Activities Center’s Multipurpose Room located on UofL's campus.
Conference speakers will include:
- Carl Ralston, president and founder of Remember Nhu, an international nonprofit focusing on fighting the child sex trade.
- Rus Funk, director of the Louisville-based organization, MensWork, which focuses on the role men play in fighting human trafficking.
- Jennifer Clinger, a survivor of human trafficking and graduate from Thistle Farms recovery program in Nashville.
In addition, Kentucky Opera Studio artists Jill Phillips and Cory Battey will perform “Love is a Knife” from the opera “A Woman in Morocco.”
Attendees will be invited to letters of support and encouragement to survivors at Thistle Farms who are recovering from human trafficking.
