10 Things To Do and Try In Louisville This Summer

Summer might seem like it’s coming to an end quickly, but with the fantastic weather and some time left before fall kicks into gear, we talked with our Girls Want to Have Fun panel to see what they're loving about summertime in Louisville. Here's what they had to say – and do!

What Louisville-area festival(s) do you like to attend?
  • "St James Art Fair; because of the unique collection of artist at a wide range of prices, the weather is perfect to stroll around St. James court and enjoy tasty treats. This kicks off Fall for my family! I hope to attend the Festivals of Riverboats this year in honor of the Belle's 100th!" -Alice Baron, community volunteer and mother
  • "The Balloon Race and Balloon Glow." -Sandra Collier, owner of The Chopping Block Day Spa & Salon and Ciao Bella Salon
  • "Forecastle." -Kenzie Kapp, hat designer, Kenzie Kapp LLC

What places do you take your out-of-town guests to in July and why?
  • "NuLu - there is always something going on and great places to eat! Churchill - Every out of town guest should see Churchill Downs. Walking Bridge - great views." -Ann Marie Kelly, executive director of YPAL
  • "Riverfront concerts and golf courses." -Sandra Collier, owner of The Chopping Block Day Spa & Salon and Ciao Bella Salon
  • "Waterfront to walk the Big Four Bridge and enjoy a meal in NuLu. Parklands to enjoy the splash park, playground and trails. Pack a lunch and make a day of it. I would take a look at Mint Julep tours depending on the age of my guest because there are so many neat packages to show off our city/state. We may also walk Bardstown Road to enjoy a meal and shop." -Alice Baron, community volunteer and mother
Name some summer foods you crave that you can always find at a particular restaurant or food truck here in Louisville in July.
  • "Caprese Salad at Z's Oyster Bar." -Sandra Collier, owner of The Chopping Block Day Spa & Salon and Ciao Bella Salon
  • "Moijtos - I always crave their house salad/Mediterranean salad. The shaved fig bread and salad dressing make it amazing! Gelatto in Norton Commons. I love trying new combinations of the gelatto or sorbets." -Alice Baron, community volunteer and mother
  • "Fish tacos at El Taco Luchador. Seviche at SEVICHE. The burger from Harvest." -Ann Marie Kelly, executive director of YPAL
