“Ben is my husband of 13 wonderful years and father to our three sons. He is the most considerate, caring, giving, selfless, passionate, devoted, motivated, and beautiful person I know. He makes me happy every day, and I love him more every minute. He has always encouraged me to be myself and do what I love. He manages to work full time at Diageo North America, coach two little league teams, and make me the happiest woman on earth. Ben is a great husband, father, friend, and overall MAN!”

“I lost my husband in October 2006. At the age of 33, I was a widow with three small children. In November of 2007, I was on J-Date and came across Liam’s profile. I was first taken by his good looks and then read his profile. There was no way this man could exist. He was a divorced man with two young children of whom he had custody, an English professor, interested in sports, movies, eating at nice restaurants and loves to cook. On December 1, we met at a restaurant and hit it off. I left there knowing I was going to marry him. We got married on November 9, 2008. He has taken in my whole family, immediate and extended, as his own. He has a relationship with my late husband’s family as well. He is an incredible ‘father’ to my children. When we met, Liam was an English professor with many degrees. He received tenure and then decided he needed to do something that would allow him to better support our large family. In the fall of 2009, Liam entered law school. He went to school part-time, taught full time and still found time for the family. In May 2013, Liam graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Brandeis School of Law. In October 2013 he started his law career with Frost Brown Todd LLC. I am so honored to be Liam’s wife and so grateful he chose me and my family. In my eyes, he is the best husband any woman could ask for.”

“How much room do I have to tell you why this man deserves to be recognized as a great husband? A little background information is probably in order. Kenny served in the Marine Corps in the ‘90s. His devotion to God, family and country are his solid foundation for being an awesome husband. We were married in 2003. Two years later, I lost my job and shortly after began having difficulty with my vision. After the optometrist was unable to find anything wrong with the health of my eye but determined I had lost the lower right field of my vision altogether, an MRI was ordered. It showed lesions, and it turned out to be MS. I have to take shots every other day, which Kenny takes charge of so he can keep me healthy. On top of this, and also being a wonderful father to four children, he makes extra effort at home to keep the laundry, dishes, and general cleaning done so I have energy left at the end of the day (MS causes fatigue). I’m not done yet. He ALSO owns and runs his own business, and after suffering a huge financial blow in 2008, he worked tirelessly to keep the company afloat. He was determined he would not let his employees or his family down and refused to file for bankruptcy. He was ALSO just named to the board of trustees this year for the Southeast Indiana/ Kentucky Multiple Sclerosis chapter. His devotion to me - to maintain my health - led him to become involved. He is extremely excited about being able to have a voice and be an advocate for me and others who suffer from MS, which at times is a silent yet devastating disease. In summary, he cooks, he cleans, he provides, he supports and encourages, he loves like no other, would fight to the death, and he would undoubtedly lay down his life for us. I hardly deserve the kind of man he is or the kind of love he has for me. I’m so proud to be his wife and the mother of his children.”

“My husband is great because he loves me! He is my equalizer. First and foremost, he is a God-fearing man. He makes me smile and laugh even when I think things are at their worst. He makes me feel like everything is going to be all right. He’s the better half! Did I mention he does the laundry and is an excellent cook?”

Age: 59
“My husband, Matthew Welch, has always supported me in my 30-year nursing career and then my political career on Metro Council since 2006. He is so selfless that he hid his chest pain episodes during my campaign and ended up with a triple cardiac bypass two months before my election in 2006. After a remarkable recovery and rehabilitation, he was selected as a poster patient for Norton Hospital’s “Get Healthy” magazine. He assists me with constituent events such as Coffee with Your Councilwoman and Fairdale Fair, as well as Brightside Cleanups. He is a giving and caring man who is willing to help anyone with his legal expertise as an attorney. He has given legal advice and direction to many people in our community over the years, which has saved them time and heartache in many instances. He gave his time and talents for many years as a volunteer basketball and softball coach as well as athletic director at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. He led our daughter’s sixth grade basketball team to the city championship. Matthew has a very big heart and has been a wonderful father to our daughters. I am proud to celebrate 30 years of marriage with him this year.”
