4 Places to Start Your Resolution

It's that time of year again. Time to start your New Year's resolutions! If you're anything like the majority, a new year is a great time to start living healthier. This year, in order to stay focused on your long term goal, try something different other than the hum drum of an overwhelmingly large gym. All over town, boutique fitness places are popping up and becoming quite the sensation. We stopped into a few of them to get the scoop!

As seen above, Pilates Village is located just off Westport Rd. near St. Matthews. Pilates is a form of exercise designed to help stretch, strengthen, tone and align the body while also relieving excess pressure on the joints. Try their new client special in January: $45 for your first session (normally $70) or 5 sessions for $299.

Another great, low impact, fully body workout is Pure Barre. With two locations in Louisville, the Paddock Shops (Summit) and Westport Village, Pure Barre focuses in on many of the areas women tend to struggle with most: hips, thighs, seat, abdominals and arms. It is designed to help strengthen the body beginning with the core and incorporates stretching of each muscle group worked to create long, lean muscles. You can also try their new client special in January which is 5 weeks unlimited classes for $100.

B You Fitness also offers two locations in Louisville- located in Springhurst shopping center and Chenoweth Square. B You offers cardio, sculpting, stretching and interval training using a barre or suspended aerial silk hammocks. Stop by and try a full week free for new clients or join as a member for $115 per month for 2015.

If you're looking for something more sweat worthy or cardio based, Orange Theory is fairly new in Louisville. Orange Theory is located in the heart of St. Matthews off Sears Ave. They offer 1-hour sessions where you will perform multiple intervals of 12 to 20 minutes of training at 84 percent or higher of your maximum heart rate. (All fully monitored throughout the workout.)
