Make the Most of Your Manicure

Nail expert from Serenity, the Spa in Anchorage, Alisha Beeler, brings you all the tips and tricks on how to make the most of your manicure including what shades to wear based on your skin tone, how to make your polish last longer and more. We're ready to break out those spring colors and show off our pedicures in some new warm weather sandals- if only the weather would come!


When getting a manicure or doing your nails yourself, Beeler suggests picking a shade of polish that compliments your natural skin tone. Currently the trending colors include green, coral, hot pink, light grey and various shades of nude. However, if you have pale skin, Beeler says to pick bright or dark tones. Those with olive and darker skin tones can wear any color. Beeler also suggests keeping your typical day to day clothing in mind when choosing a color as well as painting for the current season.

For a playful accent, you can wear a nude or a sparkly color for both of your ring fingers. However, she says older women should wear a lighter color such as mauve or a french manicure.
