Arts Insider Pick of the Week: Earth, Wind & Fire

Earth, Wind & Fire has been one of the world's most reliably transcendent party bands for more than four decades-VH1 ranking them #60 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Rock & Roll.

Over the group’s career EWF has recorded eight #1 R&B singles and eight Double Platinum Top 10 Pop Albums, and sold over 90 million albums worldwide, earning them the 7th spot on the list of all-time bestselling American music artists. Their signature sound is a fusion of funk, jazz, and R&B. Winner of six Grammy Awards® as well as being a recipient of the Soul Train Legend Award, EWF's numerous hit singles include: Shining Star, Fantasy, September, and Let's Groove Tonight.

As to how their performances manage to stay fresh 40 years and counting from their formation, EWF bassist Verdine White (who’s also the younger brother of the band’s founder Maurice White), explained to the Arts Insider by phone: "As an artist, whether (you're) performing Shakespeare or something else, you have to honor the words... and in our case, remember why the songs were written and then honor the spirit of that song."

When: May 29 @ 8 PM
Where: Louisville Palace

Tickets: $96 / $86 / $66 / $46 plus applicable fees
