Multiple Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and vocalist Diana Krall is one of the most accomplished and distinctive musicians in the world today. Currently, the Canadian native is on a worldwide tour performing her stunning new album On Wallflower, produced by Verve Records and legendary producer David Foster.
On Wallflower is a completely pop album and features a collection of contemporary songs that showcase her gifts as a vocalist in a bold and beautiful way, i.e. The Mama and Papas’ California Dreamin’,” The Eagles’ Desperado and I Can’t Tell You Why, the Carpenters’ Superstar, and Jim Croce’s Operator (That’s Not the Way it Feels) – all songs contrary to Krall’s jazz roots.
Born in 1964, Krall grew up playing and singing a variety of musical styles. In the early 1980s, she attended the esteemed Boston’s Berklee College of Music on a scholarship.
Based in New York City in the early ’90s, Krall concentrated on performing and recording with small combos around the Big Apple scene. Her major breakthrough came in 1996 with her third album, All for You, a tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio. The album rose to number three on Billboard’s North America Top Jazz Albums charts.
