5 Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Common Ailments

Last week, we highlighted some benefits of cinnamon and how common household products can be used for several unexpected things. Another great product found in most homes is apple cider vinegar (ACV). While it’s not the best-tasting on its own, it can help treat and cure several physical ailments naturally.

First, let’s talk about what to look for when buying apple cider vinegar. When you’re purchasing this stuff to use in multiple ways, you’ll want to look for the most organic brand you can find. A good ACV should be unfiltered and unpasteurized.

Next, let’s talk about what it can do! Try using it to help with these five ailments:

Sunburns. As weird as it seems, applying ACV to overexposed, red and tender skin can help take the sting away quickly. Apply the vinegar directly to the skin if the area is small. You can easily do this by soaking a thin washcloth in apple cider vinegar and placing it over the burn. Leave it on to help prevent peeling and itching. You want the burnt skin to absorb the vinegar. If your sunburn is much larger, take a cool bath with an added cup of ACV. Soak for a few minutes, and then let your body air dry completely. After that, try applying aloe vera gel on the skin for added relief.

Blemishes. The simplest way to use apple cider vinegar to treat acne is by using a cotton ball to apply the liquid directly to the skin. Let air dry and repeat daily. This will help reduce infection and dry out inflammation in the skin.

Dandruff. Just like ACV can help to dry out acne-causing bacteria in the skin, it can also help to kill bacteria and fungus that causes dandruff. Apply pure apple cider vinegar to the scalp and work it into the scalp and roots of the hair. You’ll want the vinegar to sit for 30 minutes or more before washing your hair.

Leg cramping.  Regularly taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar can aid the body’s absorption of calcium and magnesium, which help protect against painful leg cramps.

Sore throat. Taking a tablespoon of ACV when you’re experiencing a cold or sore throat can soothe your symptoms. Because ACV is acidic, it can sting going down, but in the end, it will help soothe a sore throat naturally. You can always dilute the vinegar with water when taking it orally.
