What To Do This Weekend

You may have heard that there's a little football game taking place this Sunday. The New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles will battle it out to see who will be the champions of Super Bowl LII. Fill your weekend with football, parties, and food!

This weekend you can also get your disco on, catch a play, skate on the ice with the UofL Hockey team, and more.

See below for fun weekend ideas:

What To Do This Weekend

This weekend, watch a battle for the throne in Kentucky Shakespeare's production of Richard II at the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater in historic Old Louisville’s Central Park. The play is part of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, the oldest free Shakespeare festival in the country. This weekend also offers opportunities to admire the beauty of multiple varieties of daylilies (even from a hot air balloon!), bid on a date with a bachelor for a good cause, have some family fun at the track, or catch a movie or free outdoor concerts.

Check out our selections below, and have a great weekend!

March 1: Dress in Blue for Colon Cancer Awareness

Colorectal cancers are the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Kentucky. But there's good news: through new state funding this year, under- or uninsured Kentuckians will be able to get preventative colon screenings through their local health departments. To learn more, call the Louisville Metro Health Department at 502.574.6596.

Go BLUE today to spread awareness of colon cancer. Let everyone know why you're wearing blue, and most importantly, tell your loved ones age 50 and up to get screened.
"When I was growing up, no one spoke about breast cancer. That was a taboo subject. Now we're so much more open about breast cancer screening and discussing. I feel as though colon cancer is where breast cancer was 40 years ago. So, we have to start the conversation and dialogue. Everyone in Kentucky should be talking about it and making sure that anyone we know age 50 and up is getting screened. Colon cancer is a very treatable cancer if found early. Don't wait — get screened."
— Madeline Abramson, honorary chair of the Kentucky Cancer Program's Dress in Blue Day initiative and wife of Lieutenant Gov. Jerry Abramson.
Mrs. Abramson will be joining UofL's Darrell Griffith at the Kentucky Science Center tomorrow as part of the Kentucky Cancer Program's Dress in Blue Day program. See them from noon to 1 p.m., or just stop by anywhere from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. You'll find information on colon cancer screenings, giveaways, free t-shirts, Body Worlds Vital, and... oh yeah, the giant, inflatable, walk-through colon.

Don't have something blue to wear? We've solved that problem for you. Check out this cute clothing from local boutiques:
