You don’t need to have every strand of hair in place, says artistic director Micheal Jecker of Studio3Eleven Salon. Michael added his artistic flair to the hair for most of the Derby photo shoots in Today's Woman's April magazine.

What does he suggest for Derby hair?
"The spring Derby trends are all about natural, undone hair with breezy waves, unfussy braids, and lower-than-low ponytails," he says. "It is roughed up, not too perfect, and still crazy-pretty. The styles are so simple that they won’t drive you crazy when you attempt to do them yourself."

The must-have hair products recommended by Michael are L’Oreal Professionals Texture Expert, True Grip Texturizing Powder for adding texture and volume, plus Infinium 3 Hairspray for long-lasting hold without the look and feel of hairspray.

What was his favorite shoot in the Derby issue? "The photo shoots in the April issue were fantastic and beautiful. The Iconic Derby, The Sound of Style, and The Museum of Hats shoots all had a different theme connected with Derby. However, The Sound of Style was my favorite because I am passionate about music and working with amazing local musicians at the shoot was a blast."
