We Found Something Delicious

By Melissa Donald

Front Crepe: The Jiggy Piggy; Middle Crepe: Quite Di Lemon and Back Crepe: The Asian Chicken

For Goodness Crepes started during a girls’ weekend to Cincinnati. After eating in a crepe restaurant there, Louisvillians Carrie Ramsey and Abby Peak were inspired to open a crepe restaurant in Louisville. After two years of planning with help from the Louisville Business Development Center and Score, a business mentor and counseling service, For Goodness Crepes opened its doors earlier this year.

All the crepes were developed by Carrie and Abby and are original to For Goodness Crepes. My personal favorite breakfast crepe is the The Jiggy Piggy. Filled with bacon, eggs, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and drizzled with house-made basil mayo dressing, this crepe not only tastes great but also fills you up. The basil dressing ties all flavors together.

Quite Di Lemon is a light dessert crepe I highly recommended, especially if you love lemon! A lemon cream cheese filling is wrapped and drizzled with either blueberry or strawberry sauce and then topped with fresh blueberries or strawberries, or both.  Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar, this crepe is the one I go for when I want a sweet ending or treat.

Let’s get right to a more dinner-like crepe. Hands down, my favorite crepe in the whole place is The Asian Chicken. Check this out...shredded chicken, sautéed green peppers and onions, edamame, provolone cheese (believe me, it tastes so good with the cheese) and drizzled with house-made ginger Asian sauce. It’s bursting with flavor, and once again, that sauce ties everything together so well. Every time I go for lunch, I order The Asian Chicken Crepe!

Both owners say they want to make a difference in the community and know the importance of giving back. They are doing so by being a part of the Mayor’s Compassionate Louisville Movement. As part of this movement, For Goodness Crepes allows its customers to sign up for a Crepe Love Card. When you order a crepe and donate a dollar to your order, a heart gets marked off your donation card. After 10 marks on your card, a meal will be donated to a participant at the Americana Community Center.

For those who are gluten-free, a gluten-free/vegan crepe batter is available. The majority of the sauces are gluten-free as well with the exceptions of the dill ranch, Henry Baines, and Italian sauces. Also, with the exception of the Henry Baines and salsa, all sauces were developed by Carrie and Abby and are made in-house.

The next time you are on Baxter Avenue, make sure you stop by and try these great crepes!
