Are you engaged? Or, maybe you know someone who just got a rock. Either way, attending a wedding show is a great way to get inspired and find a lot of helpful info in one place. Find out what shows are happening this weekend and six essential tips for navigating them.
Since getting engaged about a month ago, I've been to two wedding shows, both of which have been highly informative. Patrick graciously accompanied me, and by no means was he the only groom present, in case you're wondering whether to bring your fiancé. The shows have also been fun — what's better than getting to taste delicious desserts, see gorgeous decorations and learn about so many vendors at once? — and most are free for brides.
If you're planning to attend a wedding show, remember these tips:
- Register before the show. This will ensure you take advantage of any door prizes, discounts or special benefits for the bride. Help them be prepared for you so you can reap all the benefits.
- Come prepared. That means researching what vendors will be at the show and showing up with an action plan, a list of questions, a pen, a notebook, a camera, your checkbook, and a bag to carry brochures and business cards. Most wedding shows will provide some kind of bag for you to carry vendor information in, but it never hurts to be prepared. Also, bringing a camera will allow you to capture any decorations or inspirations you like at the show – just ask the vendors if they mind you taking a picture.
- Speak up. Vendors are there to answer your questions and let you know about their products. Ask questions and listen. If you click with a certain vendor (important!), you might want to book a later appointment time with them that's less hectic.
- Save time. If you're really on it, consider bringing address labels to stick on information cards. You'll also save your hand from cramping up.
- Book quickly. Remember that many vendors will start booking up after a wedding show. Don't wait too long after the show to reserve the dates you want.
- Have fun! Wear comfy shoes – you'll be doing a lot of standing and walking. Stand out by wearing a fun "bride" sticker. Relax and socialize. My dad even got to play the harp from the Louisville Symphony Orchestra at the Brown Hotel's wedding show last weekend just by striking up a conversation with the harpist. You never know the hidden talents that guy has.

Me and my friends take weddings very seriously. As it represents the bond between two people, It is only appropriate that the bride and groom try to look their best on the day of their wedding. With this in mind, everything must be done to the letter. From the invitations to the bride’s wedding dress.
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t agree more with Reena. A wedding is certainly not an event you want to mess up. Make sure that everything is going well from invitations, decors, reception/catering, up to the honeymoon. And don’t forget to tell how dashing or lovely your partner is during your wedding day.
ReplyDeleteMake sure that when it is your loved one you're with seize the moment cause it'll never happen again. What always matter is the time spent together and the memories the both of you created.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it Reena. We also take these thing seriously, because for some reason we, women want to bring out the creative within us. Weddings are just one of the factors to bring out that creativity. I must say that ever bit of detail is important from the the bride's wedding dressing to the venue. The venue is always the most important for us, because we want every involved to never forget the event.
