“I have never done a wedding anything like this one!” says wedding planner Maggie Heely, who made international headlines after coordinating an in-flight wedding for a local couple. “We typically do traditional weddings in traditional wedding venues in and around Louisville and Lexington. We’ve coordinated weddings in an airline hanger before, but certainly never in an airplane, in the air!”

Wedding Dress Hunting: the Noble Nuptial Sport
Gather round, my wife-to-be warriors. Prepare yourself for the hunt that will launch you fabulously into wifedom. Since the time of our ancestors, brides-to-be have searched the land for the dress, the one gown that was made to highlight our finest features and make us feel like royalty as we partake in the ancient ritual of marriage.
We climb through jungles of tulle and satin. We might show our claws if a rival bride takes too long in the dressing room. Our matrimonial mascara war paint marks our pursuit of the feminine and flawless, the ivory and immaculate, the poufy and perfect.
I've yet to bring down a wedding dress of my own (I've been tracking both puffy and romantic and form-fitting vintage without a decisive aim), but in my experience thus far in the noble sport of dress hunting, I've learned a few hints:

Real advice: the best wedding planning tips from brides who've been there
Did I mention that I'm kind of a professional wedding attender? Since graduating college last May, I've attended nine weddings. When I got engaged, I felt like I had somewhat of an idea what the next months would entail, as I'd just seen so many friends go through the process.
But some folks will tell you that everything you think you know about wedding planning is wrong. Dead wrong.

He liked it, so he put a ring on it.

| The ring that starts everything. |
Tomorrow will mark one month since my boyfriend of three years, Patrick, drove me to a park on an unusually warm Sunday before Christmas, spread out a blanket, dropped to one knee, and pulled out a little black box. If he was nervous, he didn't show it; in fact, he'd been cracking goofy dad jokes all morning.
I wasn't nearly as smooth in my response - through some tears and shaking hands, I choked out a "Yes!" and collapsed into his arms.
It hasn't been an easy ride, folks. It hasn't been fairy tale-perfect, and the Lord knows we are far from your Disney prince and princess. But this is our story, and we're writing it a little sloppily, a little clumsily, but in our own hand and with an enthusiastic flourish after the exclamation point: "We're engaged!"
And so begins the wedding planning madness. I've seen nine friends get married since last May, but that still doesn't prepare me for the overwhelming amount of information and advice to consider when preparing to say "I do."
