Try this salad dressing to keep your heart healthy
When it comes to the little things you can do to make big changes in your heart's health, one of the easiest- and tastiest- ways is to ditch the salad dressings. It is such a common mistake people make these days; thinking they'll eat a salad and it'll be healthier. However, it is the dressing that can ruin all of the health benefits of a salad. Those thick, creamy, calorie-packed dressings can really add on the pounds and take a toll on your heart.
Swap creamy salad dressing for a healthy homemade blend of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, says A. Marc Gillinov, M.D., cardiologist and surgical director, Center for Atrial Fibrillation at The Cleveland Clinic. “Olive oil is part of a Mediterranean diet and a healthy fat that is good for your heart.”
Spice up salads with this easy to make dressing:
1 sprig fresh oregano
1 sprig fresh thyme
1 cup olive oil
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
pepper to taste
