How Does This Most Admired Woman Keep Her Soul “Juicy”?

Today's Woman Now

Our Most Admired Woman winner in the Community/Nonprofits category, Marta Miranda, talks about how she feels she was born to be a social worker and how important her independence is, but what you might not know about Marta is her love of poetry. Keep reading to find out how it plays a big role in her life.

“I’ve always written about my experiences,” Marta says. ”I learned that from my father. He was a poet and wrote songs, and we would improvise together a lot when I was little, saying lines back and forth. Being in social work makes you question everything about humanity. We see and hear situations that no human being should ever have to go through, and one of the ways that I’ve been able to stay alive spiritually and psychologically, besides getting therapy and maintaining a strong support network, is to write. It’s part of how I stay hopeful and how I keep my soul ‘juicy,’ as I call it.”

Home Instead Senior Care proudly sponsors Miranda and her work in the community.
