5 Things to try this weekend

5 things to try this weekend

It's perfectly normal – and OK, a little acceptable – to start being a hermit after so many weeks of dreary, cold, gray weather. But now that the weather is tempting us with a little spring preview, get yourself inspired to be more fun! This weekend, try one, two or all five of these cheap and easy tricks to get you up and moving and put the winter blues behind you!
  1. Plan a weekend trip. Get together with your favorite gal-pals or your honey and plan a getaway! Either go this weekend, or sometime in the future, but be sure to make a set plan. Keep it simple and affordable. The company is the best part so head to a near-by B&B and just stay in, gossip and girl-talk, watch movies and have a few cocktails together. It's all about relaxing and taking your mind off of everything else you deal with during the week.
  2. Do some DIYs. Know all of those things you've pinned on Pinterest? All 678 of them? Yeah... do one of them! Head to a craft/ thrift store and plan to knock one of them out. Maybe try something for your home to make it more colorful? A new spring wreath perhaps?!
  3. Go outside. While the weather is temporarily nice, take full advantage of it. Go for a walk, a run, a bike ride, or just go sit on the porch while you read a good book and soak up some vitamin D. Being outside for 30 minutes will significantly boost your mood and up your energy levels. You'll be inspired to do even more DIY projects!
  4. Have an at-home spa night. Either invite your best girlfriend over or spend some quality alone time while you stay in and use home remedies to beautify yourself. Have a glass of wine and just relax! Coconut oil is a wonderful product all women should invest in. Warm some up and add a nice coat of it to your hair. Massage in it your scalp and then leave it on for at least 45 minutes. While you're at it, try an all-natural face mask: Mix together honey, milk and oatmeal (ground in a blender or food processor) until you get a thick but smooth consistency. Apply to face and neck and let sit for about 15-20 minutes, then gently wash off and moisturize. Go ahead, indulge yourself this weekend!
  5. Add some color to your home. Since this has been a rather long and extremely cold winter, go ahead and get ready for spring a little early. Bring out some of your spring decorations or find a new accent piece for your home. Think, a bold vase or some new throw pillows... Big spring trend colors this season are pastels, orange, cobalt blue and majestic purples. Artistic floral prints are also right on trend. Look for pieces that scream fun and will boost your mood when you look at them.
